Erik Carter
After earning a BS in Computer Science from Ohio University, I enjoyed almost a decade as a systems analyst. Volunteering for shelters for violent families inspired me to enter law school. My law firm experience ranges from criminal defense and family law to international domain name protection and patent litigation. I have litigated or managed litigation in Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and South Korea. I have filed appeals or appellate briefs in Indiana, Illinois, and the United States Supreme Court. I am licensed in Indiana, and the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. I hold licenses (inactive) in Illinois and Pennsylvania. My focus is your case.

Family Law
Most of my legal career has been in family law. Representing people in situations they rarely wanted to be in, I have appeared in divorce and post-divorce matters, paternity courts, guardianships, adoptions, grandparents' rights, termination of parental rights, ChINS actions, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, child support enforcement and defense, and legal separations. Each case requires unique and creative solutions.
Family Law Appeals
I am experienced in family law appeals, having filed or defended over 20 appeals in the states of Indiana and Illinois, and one supplemental brief in the United States Supreme Court.
Criminal Law
Every person accused of a crime is entitled to an attorney. My experience representing those accused of criminal or probation violations began 21 years ago, and has ranged from shoplifting to home invasion, and all levels of traffic and driving offenses.
Criminal Law Appeals
You have a right to file an appeal of a decision with which you disagree, but the time to do is limited. Contact this office for an analytical consultation.
